Port St. Lucie started as a land purchase. In 1958 the General Development Corporation bought tens of thousands of acres along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, mapped them into home sites, and the city incorporated in 1961 with only a few hundred residents. Today it is the largest city on the Treasure Coast, and most of it is still that same sprawling grid of streets and canals. A platted subdivision this size means long distances between home and almost everything else. Through-roads like Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie Blvd, and Prima Vista Blvd move most local traffic, while I-95 and Florida's Turnpike both run through the city. That puts the office within reach of Tradition and St. Lucie West, of Fort Pierce to the north, and of Stuart and Martin County to the south. Spring training visitors know the area for Clover Park, where the Mets have trained since 1988, but for year-round residents the bigger point is simple: a certification visit shouldn't cost you half a day on the road.

Inside the appointment

Expect a private consultation. A Florida-qualified physician looks at your medical records, asks about your symptoms and treatment so far, and determines whether your diagnosis meets the state's list of qualifying conditions. A positive determination gets logged as a certification with the Florida registry, which you need before you can submit your own application. Documents for your Treasure Coast visit

The registry will not approve anyone it cannot place at a Florida address, so residency proof matters most. A Florida license or ID card covers it. Snowbirds who split the year between the Treasure Coast and up north should bring a second document showing a current Florida address, such as a deed, lease, or recent utility bill. Add any records tied to your condition, such as specialist letters, test results, or a pharmacy printout. If you aren't sure your paperwork is complete, call the Bayshore office and we will walk through it before you come in.

Certification here, purchase elsewhere

Fla. Stat. 381.986 keeps two jobs apart: a qualified physician certifies the patient, and a licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center sells the product. Miracle Leaf® only does the certifying. Once your registration is approved, you buy from whichever treatment center you choose, a business that has no connection to our clinic.
