How Many Floridians Have a Medical Marijuana Card in 2026?

As of August 28, 2026, 940,116 qualified patients held an active Florida medical marijuana ID card, per the Office of Medical Marijuana Use weekly update published by the Florida Department of Health. The program operates under Florida Statute 381.986. OMMU refreshes the patient count every Friday in a PDF weekly update, so the active-patient figure drifts as new registrations are approved and lapsed cards drop off the registry. This page is refreshed monthly against the most recent weekly report, not weekly. Every figure below is stamped with the report it came from; for a live number, read the current OMMU update directly.

The 940,116 active-patient figure is the count of patient registry IDs with an unexpired card. It does not include the larger universe of physicians who have completed the 2-hour qualifying course under Chapters 458 and 459, Florida Statutes, but who are not actively certifying patients in a given week.

Florida Medical Marijuana Dispensary Locations Statewide

Florida licenses Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs) as vertically integrated businesses authorized to cultivate, process, and dispense low-THC cannabis and medical marijuana. OMMU's weekly dispensations table for the week of August 21 to 27, 2026 names 28 MMTCs. That is an operations count rather than a licensure count: the OMMU MMTC license list carried 27 licensees when it was checked on September 10, 2026, and the two documents do not reconcile. The Florida licensed dispensaries page sets out why. Of the 28 names in the dispensations table, 23 were actively operating dispensing locations as of August 28, 2026. Two more (Bloom Dispensary and Revolution Florida) reported zero locations, and 3 were listed without a dispensing-location count.

The 23 actively operating MMTCs ran 778 dispensing locations statewide during the week of August 21 to 27, 2026. Florida calls these locations dispensing locations rather than dispensaries to distinguish them from the licensed MMTC entity itself. A single MMTC operates many dispensing locations.

Top Florida MMTCs by Dispensing Location Share

The Florida dispensary footprint is concentrated. The top five MMTCs by dispensing-location count together operate 441 of the 778 statewide locations, a combined 57 percent share. Per the OMMU August 28, 2026 update, the leaderboard:

• Trulieve, 170 locations, 21.9 percent share of statewide footprint
• MÜV, 86 locations, 11.1 percent share
• Curaleaf Florida, 76 locations, 9.8 percent share
• Ayr Cannabis Dispensary, 65 locations, 8.4 percent share
• Surterra Wellness, 44 locations, 5.7 percent share

The mid-tier (15 to 45 locations) carries Green Dragon at 41, Planet 13 Florida at 34, FLUENT at 33, Sunnyside at 31, Sanctuary Cannabis at 27, GrowHealthy at 26, GTI Florida at 24, Cookies Florida at 19, Mint Cannabis at 17, The Flowery at 17, Goldflower Cannabis at 16, Jungle Boys at 15, and Sunburn at 15. The smaller-footprint operators (under 10 locations) are Insa at 9, Indiva Cannabis at 7, Eden Florida at 4, and Fino Cannabis and Wildflower Cannabis at 1 each.

Two named MMTCs reported zero dispensing locations during the reporting week: Bloom Dispensary and Revolution Florida, each licensed but not operating. Three additional names in the dispensations table were listed without a dispensing-location count. Magic Mortgage Corp. and Moton Hopkins Jr. hold Initial Licensure only, which does not permit dispensing. Leola Robinson does not appear on the OMMU license list at all, so OMMU publishes no license number or authorization status for that name.

Weekly Florida Medical Cannabis Dispensations (August 21 to 27, 2026)

For the reporting week of August 21 to 27, 2026, Florida MMTCs dispensed:

• 426,532,346 milligrams of active tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
• 1,399 milligrams of cannabidiol (CBD) as low-THC cannabis
• 148,061.352 ounces of marijuana in a smokable form (flower)

Distributed across 940,116 active patients, the weekly THC dispensation works out to roughly 454 milligrams of active THC per active patient per week, based on the OMMU August 28, 2026 figures.

Trulieve led the weekly dispensation total at 110,000,492 milligrams of active THC and 49,759.033 ounces of smokable marijuana. MÜV was second at 50,672,481 milligrams THC and 17,514.979 ounces smokable. Curaleaf Florida followed at 46,106,170 milligrams THC and 15,874.660 ounces smokable.

The 940,116 active-patient base means that roughly 1 in every 25 Florida residents holds an active medical marijuana ID card as of August 28, 2026, against the Census Bureau estimate of 23,462,518 Florida residents as of July 1, 2025. The 778 dispensary footprint means most patients have at least one MMTC location within a reasonable drive in their home county.
