How Many Floridians Have a Medical Marijuana Card in 2026?

As of May 29, 2026, 929,360 qualified patients held an active Florida medical marijuana ID card, per the Office of Medical Marijuana Use weekly update published by the Florida Department of Health. The program operates under Florida Statute 381.986. OMMU refreshes the patient count every Friday in a PDF weekly update, so the active-patient figure drifts as new registrations are approved and lapsed cards drop off the registry.

The 929,360 active-patient figure is the count of patient registry IDs with an unexpired card. It does not include the larger universe of physicians who have completed the 2-hour qualifying course under Chapters 458 and 459, Florida Statutes, but who are not actively certifying patients in a given week.

Florida Medical Marijuana Dispensary Locations Statewide

Florida licenses 28 Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTCs) as vertically integrated businesses authorized to cultivate, process, and dispense low-THC cannabis and medical marijuana. Of those 28 licensees, 25 were actively operating dispensing locations as of May 29, 2026, and 3 hold a license but had no operational dispensing locations during the reporting week.

The 25 actively operating MMTCs ran 766 dispensing locations statewide during the week of May 22 to 28, 2026. Florida calls these locations dispensing locations rather than dispensaries to distinguish them from the licensed MMTC entity itself. A single MMTC operates many dispensing locations.

Top Florida MMTCs by Dispensing Location Share

The Florida dispensary footprint is concentrated. The top five MMTCs by dispensing-location count together operate 438 of the 766 statewide locations, a combined 57 percent share. Per the OMMU May 29, 2026 update, the leaderboard:

  • Trulieve, 169 locations, 22.1 percent share of statewide footprint
  • MÜV, 85 locations, 11.1 percent share
  • Curaleaf Florida, 73 locations, 9.5 percent share
  • Ayr Cannabis Dispensary, 66 locations, 8.6 percent share
  • Surterra Wellness, 45 locations, 5.9 percent share

The mid-tier (10 to 35 locations) carries Green Dragon at 41, Planet 13 Florida at 33, FLUENT at 32, Sunnyside at 31, GrowHealthy at 26, Sanctuary Cannabis at 26, GTI Florida at 22, Cookies Florida at 19, Mint Cannabis at 17, The Flowery at 17, Jungle Boys at 15, Sunburn at 15, and Goldflower Cannabis at 14. The smaller-footprint operators (under 10 locations) include Insa at 9, One Plant Cannabis at 7, and Eden Florida at 4.

Five named MMTCs reported zero dispensing locations during the reporting week: Fino Cannabis, Prosperity Medical, Revolution Florida, and Wildflower Cannabis (each licensed but not operating). Three additional named MMTC licensees, Henry Crusaw, Leola Robinson, and Moton Hopkins Jr., were listed without a dispensing-location count.

Weekly Florida Medical Cannabis Dispensations (May 22 to 28, 2026)

For the reporting week of May 22 to 28, 2026, Florida MMTCs dispensed:

  • 438,073,511 milligrams of active tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
  • 1,330 milligrams of cannabidiol (CBD) as low-THC cannabis
  • 150,632.868 ounces of marijuana in a smokable form (flower)

Distributed across 929,360 active patients, the weekly THC dispensation works out to roughly 471 milligrams of active THC per active patient per week, based on the OMMU May 29, 2026 figures.

Trulieve led the weekly dispensation total at 109,299,099 milligrams of active THC and 48,822.845 ounces of smokable marijuana. MÜV was second at 56,757,170 milligrams THC and 18,984.942 ounces smokable. Curaleaf Florida followed at 48,159,750 milligrams THC and 15,509.280 ounces smokable.

How OMMU Publishes These Numbers

OMMU publishes a weekly PDF update every Friday at knowthefactsmmj.com/about/weekly-updates. Each weekly report includes the active-patient count, the application processing times (currently 5 business days for a complete application plus 5 business days for ID card printing), the per-MMTC dispensing-location count, and the prior week's dispensation totals by operator.

The weekly cadence makes Florida the most transparent of the three medical cannabis programs Miracle Leaf® serves on a published-data basis. Georgia DPH publishes Low-THC Oil Registry program information without a comparable weekly dispensation report. Texas DPS publishes Compassionate Use Program guidance without comparable weekly aggregate patient or dispensation totals.

What These Numbers Mean for Florida Patients

The 929,360 active-patient base means that nearly 1 in every 23 Florida residents holds an active medical marijuana ID card as of May 29, 2026, on a 21.9 million resident-base estimate. The 766 dispensary footprint means most patients have at least one MMTC location within a reasonable drive in their home county.

For patients considering an initial certification, the OMMU qualified physician search is the authoritative lookup for a state-qualified physician. For patients comparing dispensary options, the top-five operator share of 57 percent of locations means most patients will end up choosing among Trulieve, MÜV, Curaleaf, Ayr, and Surterra by default.
